A group of Tolkien Society members triumphed at last weekend’s Worldcon Masquerade, winning Best Workmanship, Best Presentation and Best In Show in the Masters’ category. Congratulations! The entry, entitled Aratalindalë, was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion.

The Tolkien Society’s 2014 Seminar will be on Thursday 14th August, and be part of the 2014 World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), which is being held at the ExCeL London exhibition centre. The Tolkien Society’s keynote speaker will be David Brawn, head of Tolkien publishing at HarperCollins.

Early bird pricing for this year’s Oxonmoot, the Tolkien Society’s annual conference-cum-convention, will end this Thursday. After midnight on 31 July, all bookings will be charged an extra £10.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery, as part of the Black Country Echoes Festival, is hosting an exhibition this from September to January called the “Making of Mordor”. The displays include items from the Tolkien Society archives and Tolkien Society members.

The Tolkien Society’s sister-organisation, Deutsche Tolkien Gesellschaft (DTG), has released a call-for-papers for their forthcoming Seminar, to be held in Aachen, on 1-3 May 2015 in co-operation with the Institute for British, American, and Romance Studies at RWTH Aachen University.

The organisers of Mythmoot III: Ever On have issued a call for papers. Mythmoot is the annual conference of the Mythgard Institute, and is due to be held in Baltimore, MD,  10-11 January 2015.
