The 22nd September, Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday, marks “Hobbit Day” worldwide. Since 1974 the Society has held Oxonmoot in honour of the anniversary, whilst you’ve probably seen us talking about it today on Facebook and Twitter. But how else can you get involved in?

The Tolkien Society Seminar 2015 has been hailed by attendees as “one of the best, ever“. The 25th Seminar took place last month in the city of Leeds, where Tolkien was an academic in the early 1920s.

Tolkien’s original dust-jacket design for The Hobbit is currently on public display as part of the Bodleian Library’s ‘Marks of Genius’ exhibition.

Middle-earth Festival comes to Sarehole Mill this weekend. The event – formerly taking place in May and known as Middle-earth Weekend – takes place at the historic location where J.R.R. Tolkien lived as a child.

Every year a group of Czech larping enthusiasts re-enact The Battle of Five Armies, the concluding set piece of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit.

Leslie Megahey, known for his 1968 BBC documentary Tolkien in Oxford, will be the Guest Speaker at the Tolkien Society’s 2015 Annual Dinner to be held in Arundel on 11th April 2015.
