Yulemoot is the annual seasonal gathering of The Tolkien Society. This year it will held in two parts.
The in-person event will take place at Bacchus Bar in Birmingham on the evening of Saturday 4 December. Join us from 6pm till late.
The following weekend (Saturday 11 December) an online event will be hosted on Zoom.
Yulemoot is an informal gathering of members and non-members in a pub in Tolkien’s childhood home of Birmingham. Yulemoots have been held by individual smials over the years and since 2015 the Society has hosted a central event for all-comers in Birmingham. Aside from being the city Tolkien grew up in (and thus there are various Blue Plaques on buildings for the keen to track down) members and non-members can visit the City’s large German Christmas Market, or take in the treasures of the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found, and the Pre-Raphaelite works in the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (the Edwardian tea-room comes highly recommended), or the delights of the many pubs, cafes, and restaurants.
Bacchus Bar is located directly opposite Birmingham New Street railway station in the Burlington Arcade. Many members will remember it as the location of the innmoot from Tolkien 2019.
