Wolverhampton Art Gallery, as part of the Black Country Echoes Festival, is hosting an exhibition this from September to January called the “Making of Mordor”. The displays include items from the Tolkien Society archives and Tolkien Society members.

The Tolkien Society’s sister-organisation, Deutsche Tolkien Gesellschaft (DTG), has released a call-for-papers for their forthcoming Seminar, to be held in Aachen, on 1-3 May 2015 in co-operation with the Institute for British, American, and Romance Studies at RWTH Aachen University.

Early bird pricing for this year’s Oxonmoot, the Tolkien Society’s annual conference-cum-convention, will end this Thursday. After midnight on 31 July, all bookings will be charged an extra £10.

Tolkien and the Study of His Sources: Critical Essays, edited by Jason Fisher, has received the 2014 Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies.

The Oxford Botanic Garden has announced that its large black pine (pinus nigra), one of Tolkien’s favourite trees, will be cut down for safety reasons.

The Middle-earth Network and Legendarium Media have announced that an audio tape featuring a speech by Tolkien in 1958 will undergo restoration.
