The nomination period for the second annual Tolkien Society Awards is now open. The Awards recognise excellence in Tolkien scholarship and fandom.

A team of researchers – led by Martin Barker at Aberystwyth University – are conducting a worldwide project to survey people’s views on The Hobbit films. They are particularly keen to hear from “those who know Tolkien well”.

BBC iWonder have launched a new online guide exploring the influence of Welsh and Wales on the Elvish language Sindarin and Middle-earth. It is presented by Dr Dimitra Fimi, author of Tolkien, Race and Cultural History, and features the voice of John Rhys-Davies.
