Yulemoot is an annual seasonal gathering of The Tolkien Society, this year taking place online via Zoom on Saturday 12th December 2020. The event is free and open to all Tolkien Society members; there’s no need to let us know you are joining us.
Yulemoots have been held by individual smials over the years and from 2015-19 the Society has hosted a central event for all-comers in Birmingham, the city where Tolkien grew up.
Sadly current Covid-19 restrictions mean that we can’t have a physical gathering this year, but on the plus side this will allow our members from all over the world to join via Zoom.
Who: Yulemoot 2020 is open to all Tolkien Society members. Not a member? Join here.
Where: Online via Zoom. The link and other details were included in the email to members on Sunday 6th December. If you didn’t receive the email please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
When: From 7 pm UK time on Saturday 12 December 2020 (9 pm Eastern European time, 8 pm Central European time, 2 pm US Eastern Time, 11 am US Pacific Time).
Our aim is to have a convivial evening with plenty of opportunity for engagement with other Tolkien Fans – so we’ll make plenty of use of breakout rooms to enable this.
Bring your own drink and snacks – and why not create a bit of atmosphere by wearing a costume or choosing a suitable background?
All times in UK time:
- 7:00 pm – Yuletide Pub Quiz. Mike & Maggie Percival present a Yuletide edition of their online pub quiz. To play, you’ll ideally need a second device (typically a phone) to submit your answers to Kahoot!. Full details of how to play will be provided on the night. Examples of previous quizzes can be found here.
- 8:30 pm (approx) – Yuletide Entertainments. Be delighted by the talented singers amongst our members.
- 9:30 pm (approx) – Social gathering using breakout rooms. For as long as members wish to stay, we will keep the Zoom running!
