What is Oxonmoot – other than an annual get–together for Tolkien fans?

In The Hobbit, Rivendell is described as “perfect whether you liked food, or sleep, or work, or story-telling, or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all.” Oxonmoot is a bit like that – except without the work, and in too many cases without much sleep – in that there is something for everyone – talks & papers, entertainments, food & drink, and above all fellowship.

Over the years Oxonmoot has been shaped and moulded as the Society has grown and developed, but the following now form the main structure of the event…
