An extremely rare presentation copy of the first edition of The Hobbit is set to be auctioned by Sotheby’s on 4 June.

It is with great dismay that we must sadly inform you of the death on Friday of one of our Tolkien Society members. Mick Wilkes has died after a long and painful illness, at St. Mary’s Hospice, with his wife Viv and sons John and David beside him.

The editors of Tolkien Studies: An Annual Scholarly Review have revealed the contents of the twelfth volume due out later this year. On behalf of his co-editors Michael D.C. Drout and Verlyn Flieger, David Bratman made the announcement on his blog.

The Tolkien Estate has launched a new website. It is a fantastic new educational resource for readers of Tolkien’s works.

The “Online Games: Literature, New Media, and Narrative” course goes live on Monday, April 27th  and is back for its third year.
