A new collection of essays – The Great Tales Never End: Essays in Memory of Christopher Tolkien – edited by Richard Ovenden and Catherine McIlwaine will be published by Bodleian Libraries in June 2022.

We are delighted to announce that Dr Dimitra Fimi, winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award in the 2021 Tolkien Society Awards, and the hosts of the Tolkien Experience Podcast, winner of the Best Online Content Award, will feature in the programme for Oxonmoot 2021.

Over the weekend of 3rd-4th July, the Society hosted its Summer Seminar on the theme of Tolkien and Diversity. Hosted online on Zoom, we welcomed 16 speakers and over 700 audience members to what was a spectacular event. The individual paper recordings are now available for free on the Tolkien Society’s YouTube channel.

Pictures by J.R.R. Tolkien, first published in 1979, is being republished on 11 November 2021 for the first time since 1992.

We are now calling for papers for the Tolkien Society Autumn Seminar, on the theme of Translating and Illustrating Tolkien, which will be held online on Saturday 6th November 2021. The deadline is Friday 3rd September.
