To mark J.R.R. Tolkien’s 130th birthday, The Tolkien Society invites fans all over the world to participate in our annual Birthday Toast.

A new collection of essays – The Great Tales Never End: Essays in Memory of Christopher Tolkien – edited by Richard Ovenden and Catherine McIlwaine will be published by Bodleian Libraries in June 2022.

The new video of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum shows Gandalf, Thranduil, the Mouth of Sauron, as well as locations such as the Mirkwood and the Mines of Moria.

The Tolkien Society is pleased to announce that it has purchased 64 photos of J.R.R. Tolkien at auction, along with two accompanying letters, to form part of its archive and to be secured for future generations.

Pictures by J.R.R. Tolkien, first published in 1979, is being republished on 11 November 2021 for the first time since 1992.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s publishers, HarperCollins, have announced that a brand new audiobook of The Lord of the Rings will be released this autumn, and narrated by Andy Serkis.
