It’s been worth the wait. Although we’ve have had a teaser trailer for some months now, today Warner Bros. finally revealed to fans their vision of the Middle-earth duo-trilogy (hexalogy)? Their vision is one of epic proportions blasting through any cuteness and trivialities to present a grim, dangerous, emotionally-complex and eye-watering spectacular Middle-earth.

In a YouTube video, Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Richard Armitage (Thorin), Martin Freeman (Bilbo), Luke Evans (Bard) and Orlando Bloom (Legolas) have announced that the world première of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will take place at Leicester Square in London on Monday 1st December.

Vue Cinemas have done a survey of cinema-goers and have discovered that The Lord of the Rings trilogy has beaten the Harry Potter series to claim the crown as best book-to-film adaptation.

In a blogpost on their website, Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull – authors of The Art of The Hobbit and The J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide – have confirmed that a new book, The Art of The Lord of the Rings, will be out next year.

FusionArts, based in Oxford, are offering storytelling workshops over November courtesy of a grant from the Tolkien Trust and Lankelly Chase.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (American publishers of Tolkien’s works) new pocket hardback boxed set is out today.
