The Bodleian Libraries has acquired the map of Middle-earth annotated by Tolkien and renowned artist Pauline Baynes.

The Tolkien Society Seminar 2016 will be held on Sunday 3rd July at the Hilton Leeds City. We are now calling for papers on the theme of Life, Death, and Immortality in Tolkien’s works.

The Mythgard Institute have announced four new online courses for Spring 2016. In addition to classes on Latin and modern fantasy, two will focus on Tolkien specifically.

The manuscript containing one of the earliest known references to the word “elf” has been digitised by the British Library and is available to view online.

The Shaping of Middle-earth, the fourth volume in “The History of Middle-earth” series, will be the focus of the next  Mythgard Academy class starting today.

The map of Middle-earth annotated by illustrator Pauline Baynes and Tolkien himself has now been transcribed by Blackwell’s Rare Books.
