Oxonmoot to celebrate 80 years of The Hobbit with birthday party

To celebrate 80 years of The Hobbit, Oxonmoot – The Tolkien Society’s annual event in Oxford – is marking Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday with a party of special magnificence.

Oxonmoot 2017 is being held at St Antony’s College, Oxford, from Thursday 21st until Sunday 24th September.

The Hobbit was first published on 21 September 1937 and 22 September is the date of Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday in The Lord of the Rings.

Held on the Saturday (23 September), the birthday party will feature lots of food, drink and fun!

There will be plenty of cake and savouries from The Hungry Hobbit Bake Off, a gift exchange (bring one, take one – worth around £5 each), games (quoits, apple bobbing, hunt for the Ring, pass the Silmarils) and a few surprises!

For more information on this year’s event, visit the Oxonmoot 2017 page.

Book by the end of July to take advantage of early bird prices.
