Carl F. Hostetter to Guest at Oxonmoot

We are delighted to announce that Carl will be joining us at Oxonmoot as an online guest.

It won’t have escaped your attention that the first day of Oxonmoot, 2nd September, is also the publication date of The Nature of Middle-earth, edited by Carl F. Hostetter. The book will cover some previously unpublished writings by JRR Tolkien, including a number of topics that Tolkien fans have long debated over, such as Elvish immortality, the lands of Númenor and Gondor, the nature of the Valar, and even who could grow beards. The book looks set to resolve a number of debates amongst Tolkien fans.

The Oxonmoot programme will include an interview with Carl, and an opportunity for our delegates to ask questions.

Carl is a Tolkien scholar who has been previously entrusted with Tolkien’s linguistic materials, which he has published in the journal Vinyar Tengwar. He also co-edited Tolkien’s Legendarium: Essays on The History of Middle-earth, and has contributed to Tolkien: Maker of Middle-earth, Tolkien Studies and Parma Eldalamberon amongst others.

Oxonmoot 2021 will be our first fully hybrid event, running online and in Oxford from 2nd to 5th September 2021. For further information and to register, visit oxonmoot.org.
