Can you help?

Tolkien and Heritage enthusiasts needed!

Did you know that there really is a gold ring which bears a curse, that may have helped inspire Tolkien to write ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of The Rings’?

National Trust

It’s owned by The National Trust and displayed at The Vyne in North Hampshire and to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of one of our favourite books being written, The Vyne team are really keen to tell the story associated with this very special object and examine the truth behind the tale. Can you help?

We would really like to hear your thoughts about this, particularly if you are aged under 25, or have experience of working with this age group.

The Vyne are planning to join forces with The Tolkien Society to produce a quality exhibition and a range of events at the site, between November 2012 and November 2013. We are seeking Heritage Lottery funding for this project and will need your help to make it happen, as we need to demonstrate to the Heritage Lottery Fund that young people will be both involved in what we do and interested in the results. If you have a love of archaeology and history or an interest in design or inspiring others to read Tolkien’s works, this could be a great opportunity to meet new friends and gain an insight into both the creative side of heritage attractions and their operation.

If you’d like to get involved in some way, or simply show your support for this idea, please do let us know by emailing dave.green@nationaltrust.org.uk or contacting us via Facebook (The Vyne – National Trust) or Twitter (@TheVyneNT).
