A 60p charge is added to Visa Delta payments and a 5% charge is added to credit card payments to cover bank charges (these are included in the calculated figure). UK cheques and Postal Orders do not attract any charge.

All gift memberships come complete with a Greetings card featuring a design inspired by Tolkien. For Christmas gifts the card has a seasonal picture by J.R.R. Tolkien himself. Gift memberships can either be sent to you or direct to the receipient.

Expected delivery times

Note that we cannot guarentee delivery by a specific date. We rely on postal services around the world for delivery. The dates below are based on the recommended last posting dates for Christmas issued by the Royal Mail with time added to allow us to prepare the membership pack for posting. Note that delivery times may be faster for major cities especially those close to the port/airport where mail enters the country. The more time you give us the better.

1 December	Surface mail	Western Europe except Cyprus, Greece, Iceland, Malta and Turkey
2 December	surface mail	BFPOs 2, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 51.
6 December	Airmail	Outside Europe except Somalia (no service), French Southern & Antarctic Territories (surface mail only), Canada, USA and Japan. (Pitcairn, Saint Helena, South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands and Tristan da Cunha are included in this by the Royal Mail but it might be better to allow more time!)
10 December	Airmail	Canada, USA, Japan, Eastern Europe and BFPOs.

15 December		United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man
20 December	First class	United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man (Christmas gifts for these destinations placed after 15 December and posted by us on or before the Royal Mail's advertised last posting date will automatically be sent first class and the amount charged to your card will be 50 pence higher than shown below.)

If you miss these dates we can offer express delivery to many destinations. The costs and deadlines for this vary from country to country. Prices range from £4.20 for the UK, through £21-£24 for Europe and £33.08 for the USA to £43.79 for some countries in South America, Africa and Asia. These prices are in addition to the membership fee. Please email the Membership Secretary with full details of the delivery address for a quote and deadline information.
