Learning Links is a teacher and museum/archive professional placement scheme funded by the Department for Education & Skills, Department for Culture, Media & Sport, and Museum, Library & Archive Council and run by SEMLAC. It is one of a number of activities to be undertaken to develop an entitlement for teachers and children to high quality museum/archive education. It seeks to support the South East Hub's strategic priority to develop a comprehensive service to schools.
The placement must take place before February 2006. Priority will be to schools developing an 'extended school' profile. For more information on extended schools see:
www.teachernet.gov.uk/wholeschool/extendedschools. If interested, there are further details at www.semlac.org.uk, and you can contact the archivist, Pat Reynolds who can also help with preparing the application to SEMLAC: archives@tolkiensociety.org.
Other funding streams may be identified to support placements for teachers, exending beyond the current financial year.
