Tolkien Society Seminar 2009: London
"Journeys & Destinations"
2009's Seminar was held at Sir John Soane's Museum,
Lincoln's Inn Fields, London on 27th June. The day turned out very sunny, the room was full and therefore quite hot, but all present enjoyed themselves especially during the discussions after each paper. At the end of the day a large group hunted out a table in a local pub for a convivial meal and to continue the discussions over a beer, cider, or juice (as well as the food of course).
The papers presented were:
- "I have something to do before the end": The Journey of Samwise the Stouthearted"- A.M. Gazzolo
- "Rings and other Things - Possession and the Possessed"- Dr P. Reynolds
- "Dragons, Dreams, Myth & Magic"- M. Ennis & Ironville School Group
- "Stay or go; some reflections upon stasis and travelling in Tolkien's mythos." - S. Bridgwater
- "Travelling over/into the Feminine Body and Mind: An Analysis of the Metaphorical Journey of the Fellowship in The Lord of the Rings" - Dr A. Sanna
