As a lover of Tolkien for many years I was disappointed by some of the ommissions in Fellowship of the Ring but could accept the neccessities of filming. Good enough to find the film worth watching occasionally on DVD. However, the Two Towers was disasterous. I found a number of the performances, from excellent actors, highly enjoyable but the tampering with the plot was unbearable. Faramir is a travesty and bears no relation to Tolkien's character or his structure in the plot. How could the person portrayed in TT become the person described by Tolkien in Return of the King? I also don't understand why it was cut short. It leaves too much to do in Return of the King. I do not trust Jackson any more and I doubt he will deal with the Scouring of the Shire.
It leaves me feeling angry because he so strongly claimed to keep close to the book and it was strongly proclaimed that Christopher Lee was quite expert on the book and much was discussed with him. Why not be honest and say he would do whatever suited his own taste? It certainly doesn't suit mine!

My only concerns regarding the two films currently available are the somewhat ill-judged changes made to the basic story. Obviously they could not simply film the book page by page, however I believe that the scriptwriters did have a duty to the readers of the book. What do I mean?. Basically this, in the books Aragorn does accept who he is and what he must do, I really think in the film his agonizing is overplayed. Secondly in the Two Towers why leave out so much of the book claiming that they simply could not fit it all in and then replace whole chunks of Tolkien's work with their own pale immitation - I refer to the scenes involving the Elves throughout the Two Towers. These issues aside, I did enjoy the films and I am avidly awaiting the Return of the King. My only hope is that they have not 'mucked around' too much with the powerful conclusion to the Lord of the Rings.

Horribly dissappointed and insulted with the Two Towers' lack of respect for the literature it was supposed to honor. This movie was obviously made to cater to a movie going audience. The worst part of it all is that it is the sequel to one of the best films ever made.

Comment: I have always respected J.R.R. TOLKIEN,S work,I read the book when I was 10 and The Hobbit.I loved the first 2 movies just as much as I loved the book.So there are know complaints here!*****

Comment: Stunned! Impressed! Captivated! Elated but eventually dissappointed with the portryal of Farmir. I thought the visitation of Boromir should have been included. But who knows maybe it will be a flash back in return of the King.
My absolute favorite scenes were the ones concerning Master Elrond and Erwen regarding her love for Aragorn. There was extreme depth there that not all audiences might have gotten but it hit very deep with me. The love between a father and daughter.

I think the movie is brilliant! But what I don't like is, that there are many different plots with too different feelings, and so there is always a kind of "cut" between the different scenes. But still: Lord of the Rings for ever! ;-)

Comment: Best movie ever scene, Helm's Deep was great!

One thing that I think should be remembered is that the movie is bringing a lot of people to the books. I probably never would have read the books if I hadn't seen Fellowship first. Now I've read all three, I'm reading The Return of the Shadow now. Some people need a little nudge, and what a nudge! But the beauty of the book that started it all leaves you breathless! So all you critics of the movie remember it that way, the movies though wonderful opened the eyes of a great many people. They brought us to the Middle Earth that Tolkien, not Peter Jackson created. In fact, I truly thank Jackson for that!

I would like to see in a documentary-like movie a parallel history on the things that were missing in the movie, such as Tom Bombadil.
