The theme of Tolkien Reading Day 2019 is Tolkien and the mysterious. What will you be reading?

This year The Tolkien Society is hosting a special evening at the Exeter Phoenix with spine-chilling storytelling, a variety of workshops and a talk by guest of honour, Professor Nick Groom. The event is free of charge, so come along or join us in sharing your own readings on Facebook and Twitter.

What is Tolkien Reading Day?

Tolkien Reading Day is held on the 25th of March each year.

It has been organised by the Tolkien Society since 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien by reading favourite passages. We particularly encourage schools, museums and libraries to host their own Tolkien Reading Day events.
