An exhibition commemorating Tolkien’s time in Staffordshire during the First World War launched at the Museum of Cannock Chase on 7 March 2016. It will tour the county until February 2017 – see below for the tour dates.

After an amazingly successful Tolkien Weekend in September 2015, the event will return this year. There will be cosplay, live swordplay demonstrations, and stalls from local traders (both inside and outdoors), all to mark Frodo and Bilbo Baggins’ joint birthday.
Local Staffordshire historian David Robbie will discuss Tolkien’s time in the county during the Great War as a soldier in its army camps and as a writer on a literary journey towards Middle-earth on Tuesday 17 May at 7pm.
Pembroke College’s MCR have announced that Terri Windling will deliver the fourth annual Tolkien Lecture on Thursday 26 May.
Acclaimed local artist Hannah Reynolds will host a family craft workshop, focusing on Tolkien’s time in Staffordshire, at Cannock Library from 10am on 31 May.
