Mythcon 40

The 40th Annual Conference of the Mythopoeic Society; back in Southern California for the first time since 1997 and our debut appearance at the very appealing UCLA. We will occupy UCLA's DeNeve Plaza, which means great accessibility, amenities, and comfort.

GOHs are James A. Owen, author and artist, and Diana Pavlac Glyer, Inklings scholar and author. Daytime programming will include excellent scholarly and amusing papers and panels; evening events run to fun. The annual presentation of the Mythopoeic Awards will take place at the banquet.

The Conference seeks papers on the work of the Guests of Honor, the Inklings, and the concept of artists and writers in community. Deadline 15 April. Contact us via the website.

Three day Tolkien festival of the UK Tolkien Society. The moot usually includes talks, a quiz, an art show, a masquerade and other entertainments, a visit to Tolkien's grave in north Oxford, and last, but not least, the chance to spend a weekend in the company of other fans of Tolkien's work.
