Today marks the 123rd anniversary of Tolkien’s birth. The Tolkien Society invites Tolkien fans all over the world to participate in our annual Birthday Toast.

BBC iWonder have launched a new online guide exploring the influence of Welsh and Wales on the Elvish language Sindarin and Middle-earth. It is presented by Dr Dimitra Fimi, author of Tolkien, Race and Cultural History, and features the voice of John Rhys-Davies.

The actor and writer Robert Hardy will be the Tolkien Society’s guest speaker at its Annual Dinner during the 2015 AGM and Springmoot. Hardy was taught by both J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis while a student at Oxford in the 1940s.

The Hungarian Tolkien Society is hosting its ninth Tolkien Mailing Competition. This year, however, the “Quendi” category is open to Tolkien fans from around the world to win the honour of being crowned the winner of the HTS’s competition.
