Coach Tours

We are arranging two coach trips as part of Tolkien 2005. These will be extra cost items, but they are reasonably priced to allow as many people to take advantage of them as possible. Both trips are for limited numbers; the maximum is set by the available seats on the coach. There will be a half-day guided tour of Tolkien's Birmingham on the Friday afternoon and a trip to Oxford on the Sunday.

Tolkien's Birmingham Guided Tour

The tour will be a half-day in duration and will be guided by Bob Blackham. Bob is a noted local expert on Birmingham's Tolkien connections. He will also be giving a talk earlier in the event about Tolkien and Birmingham; this will give a greater number of people the opportunity to participate as well as giving those who wish to delve deeper two bites at the cherry.

Oxford Trip

The trip will be a day (morning and afternoon) in duration; expected departure from Aston University around 9am, expected departure from Oxford around 4pm. It will be guided by members of Taruithorn, the Oxford Tolkien Society.

Tour Booking

To be fair to everyone it is only possible book a Coach Tour once you have received your Registration Receipt and Registration Number. This ensures that those who book on-line do not have an unfair advantage. Consequently, we will not be fast-tracking any registration bookings, nor will we be sending Registration Numbers by email.

To book on-line you will be need to enter your name, your Registration Number and your email address. This information will be checked against our records of who has registered. The Registration Number can be found on the address label of your Registration Receipt or Progress Report.
